Board the yacht in Los Suenos marina just 90 minutes from San Jose international airport.

Guests spend the first night getting settled onboard Carpe Diem in the marina.

Day one: We visit Isla Tortuga on the way out and surf a secluded private beach a few miles North of Jaco only accessible by yacht.

Day two: Playa Samara is a sleepy beach town in one of my favorite parts of the country. We anchor the yacht in the horseshoe shaped bay which offers the most protection due to a recent earthquake which raised the reef by six feet. And surf Playa Buena Vista just 2 nm to the West. The town of Samara is a good chance to go ashore and get to know the locals.

Day three:  Playa Negra provides year round consistent waves. Endless summer was shot here.

Day four:  We stop in Playa Avellanas, a reef break. Or El Parqueo a sand break close by depending on our group. Playa Avellanas is one of few beaches with a natural rock pool. If conditions are quiet, snorkeling can be fun.

Day five:  Playa Grande is a secluded beach just a few miles North of Playa Tamarindo the primary surf town in Guanacaste.  After a sunset cocktail and dinner on the aft deck guests may feel like venturing out for the evening to enjoy the nightlife of busy Tamarindo.

Day six:  We continue North threading our way through the Santa Catalina Islands for a snorkel or stopping at Playa Flamingo and Conchal for a swim.

Day seven: At first light we lift anchor and head directly to Witches Rock, Ollie’s Point, the top two surf breaks in the country.  Ollies Point is slightly further North into the Santa Rosa National Park. Depending on the weather we normally surf Witches Rock first before heading to Ollies point for the evening.

Day eight: We moor in Papagayo Marina after an early morning surf for a farewell Mimosa brunch. Liberia International airport is just 45 minutes away.

In addition to reliable four plus foot waves and glassy conditions, Carpe Diem could possibly be the most opulent floating surf hotel in the world. With unlimited hot water, ice and air conditioned cabins you will be sure to be comfortable all week long.

In the garage Carpe Diem stores a top of the line Seadoo Jet Ski capable of 70 mph and a Williams jet tender. Along with a full inventory of water toys.

Rest assured your captain is always on hand with the jet ski to pick you up or drop you in at the perfect spot to maximise waves per day.

Please note our route and schedule may change due to weather.  If conditions are unsettled we may relocate for the evening but will never cut any destinations from our itinerary.
